Effect of eucalyptus leaf meal supplementation on feed intake ruminal ecology and microbial protein synthesis of swamp buffaloes Thai Agricultural
Nguyen The Thao; Metha Wanapat.
This study was conducted to investigate the effects of Eucalyptus (E. Camaldulensis) leaf meal (ELM) supplementation on voluntary feed intake, ruminal ecology and microbial protein synthesis of swamp buffaloes fed with rice straw. In this, ruminally fistulated swamp buffaloes with initial body weight of 321± 23 kg were randomly assigned according to a 4 x 4 Latin square design. The dietary treatments were different levels of ELM supplementation and were as follows: T1= 0 g ELM/hd/d; T2 = 40 g ELM/hd/d; T3 = 80 g ELM/hd/d; T4 = 120 g ELM/hd/d. Experimental animals were kept in individual pens, concentrates were offered at 0.3%BW and rice straw was fed ad libitum. These results revealed that voluntary feed intake were similar among treatments. Ruminal pH,...

Performance and hematology of pacu fed diets supplemented with vitamins C and/or E Scientia Agricola
Garcia,Fabiana; Pilarski,Fabiana; Onaka,Eduardo Makoto; Moraes,Flávio Ruas de.
Pacu (Piaractus mesopotamicus Holmberg, 1887) is a valued Brazilian fish species for aquaculture. This is highly susceptible to disease, and feed supplementations for pacu can be a very important strategy to prevent disease incidence in fish farms. The aim of this study was to evaluate a strategic supplementation for pacu. Juvenile pacu (10.5 ± 1.2 g) were fed diets containing three levels of vitamins C and/or E (0, 250, and 500 mg vitamin kg-1 diet). Fish were fed diets without supplementation for two months prior to the experiment. After that period, experimental feeding was initiated for two months. Growth and hematological evaluations were made on the thirtieth and sixtieth days of feeding. Pacu fed diet without supplementation of vitamins C and E...

Physical-mechanical properties of multinutrient blocks with different binders for goats and sheep intake AGRIAMBI
Furtado,Dermeval A.; Castro,Thiago B. de S.; Lopes Neto,Jose P.; Constantino,Rodrigo A.; Cunha,Maria das G. G.; Nascimento,José W. B. do.
ABSTRACT Feed supplementation with multinutrient blocks (MB) for sheep and goats can be a viable alternative in the Brazilian semiarid region, and it is necessary to set an ideal hardness to obtain maximum feed efficiency. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the manufacture of MB using five binders: Portland cement, lime, kaolin, Portland cement + kaolin and lime + bentonite, at two percentages (7.5 and 10%) and two healing times (72 and 96 h). The experimental design was completely randomized in a 5 x 2 x 2 factorial scheme (binders, percentages and healing times, respectively), with five repetitions. Using lime in the MBs led to greater resistance in the specimens (208.53 kPa), as well as the greater percentage of binders (10%), ensuring higher...
